Wrexham knows what river flooding means. When the Dee and its tributaries rise, homes from Bangor-on-Dee to the edge of the city can be left with contaminated water through their ground floors – and putting that right takes more than a mop and a dehumidifier. Quirks Property Maintenance provides 24/7 flood damage restoration across Wrexham county: emergency make-safe, strip-out, decontamination, monitored drying and full reinstatement. Call 01244 638219 at any hour.

The low-lying land along the Dee south of the city has flooded within recent memory. Storm Christoph in January 2021 forced evacuations, and Bangor-on-Dee has seen repeated flood events as the river spills across the Maelor lowlands.
Away from the river, the same culprits as everywhere: overloaded drains in heavy rain, and burst pipes in any season.
River water brings an extra problem the others do not. What it leaves behind in carpets, plaster and timber changes how the job has to be done.
Natural Resources Wales operates flood warning areas across the county. Check yours on their flood warning service.
The whole restoration is run by one contractor from first attendance to final reinstatement – you deal with us, not a chain of separate firms.
Cold snaps and failed joints.
Heavy rain and wind-driven water.
Overflows and blocked runs.
Water ingress from above.
Internal escapes of water.
Caused by standing water above.
Flooded utility spaces.
Tenanted and business premises.
A lot of Wrexham county is villages, smallholdings and older rural buildings – solid walls, stone floors, outbuildings, private drainage. They flood differently and they dry differently: solid masonry holds water for months, and septic or private drainage adds its own complications after a flood. We restore these properties regularly, plan the drying around how the building is actually built, and reinstate with materials that suit it. If access or power is a problem after a flood event, tell us when you call and we will come equipped.
A river flood is not just wet – it is dirty. Flood water that has crossed fields, roads and drains arrives carrying bacteria, sewage and chemical residues, and it leaves them in carpets, plaster and timber as it soaks in. That is why porous materials touched by river water are stripped out rather than dried in place, and why surfaces are cleaned and sanitised before drying begins. Where the contamination justifies it, we use specialist decontamination – including antimicrobial surface treatments and fogging – before the drying stage starts. Skipping that stage does not just risk damp – it leaves a health hazard sealed inside the fabric of the home.
Cut the drying short and mould follows within days – in the rooms you flooded and in the voids behind them. If a property has been left damp after an earlier flood, that is a damp problem as much as a flood problem: see our damp proofing in Wrexham service.
WREXHAM INDUSTRIAL ESTATE — COMMERCIAL OFFICE SUITE
A burst pipe over a bank holiday weekend flooded the office accommodation within a commercial unit on Wrexham Industrial Estate. Water escaped from the kitchen area and spread through the open-plan office while the building stood empty, reaching the suspended ceiling void and running down into the demountable partition walls.
We quoted for emergency extraction and drying on 3 June 2026 and opened up the ceiling to trace how far the water had travelled.
Readings at a partition beside a radiator were elevated well above floor level — a profile often reported as rising damp. It was nothing of the sort: the meter responds to conductive material, and the framework, ceiling grid, pipework and cabling were all within range.

Commercial drying equipment was installed and the affected area cordoned off.
Readings were taken through the drying period rather than the equipment being left to run unmonitored, so the decision to stop drying was based on the readings rather than the calendar.

Sections that had not dried were removed under control. Electrical services were isolated by a qualified electrician and the heating drained before the radiators came off.
That exposed the timber sole plate at the base of the partitions — the one element that had sat in the wettest part of the construction, concealed where nobody could see it.

Reinstatement has deliberately not followed: the client is redesigning the office layout, and the one time a commercial floor plan is genuinely free to change is when the walls are already open. This case study covers the emergency drying, the controlled strip-out and the sole-plate assessment.
