Internal Wall Insulation (IWI) in Flintshire, Chester, Wrexham, Cheshire, Denbighshire, Conway, Wirral, and North Wales
Interior wall insulation helps reduce heat loss and improves the comfort of your property. Install interior wall insulation and save up to £930 per year on your energy bills.
Our installation process
We at Quirks prepare the existing internal wall surface by treating any damp and removing loose wall coverings. Features and fittings such as lights, radiators and pipework on external walls will be removed and reattached so that they are flush with your new ‘wall’. On completion of the project, we will then ensure the space is thoroughly cleaned.
Depending on the room size, the time required for the installation will vary. Our team here at Quirks will provide you with a detailed, no-obligation assessment of your home with our recommendations so you can go away and make an informed decision.
Step one: Ensuring flush installation of studs and rails
Make sure all services are installed and that all studs and rails are flush with no projections.
Step two: Inserting insulation and fitting services
Insert the insulation into the framing, pushing back the plywood sheathing. If necessary, fit services into the cavity and cut the boards to fit firmly between the stud rails. Ensure the wall insulation continues with the floor perimeter
Step three: Cutting and fitting infill panels
Cut leftover boards for infill panels and use cut-offs when possible to make sure there aren’t any gaps in the wall structure.
Step four: Installing vapour control layer
Install a vapour control layer over the warm side of the stud work
Step five: Fixing plasterboard lining
Fix the plasterboard lining over the vapour control layer using suitable plasterboard nails or screws.
Internal Wall Insulation in Flintshire, Chester, Wrexham, Cheshire, Denbighshire, Conway, Wirral, and North Wales

If your home was built before the 1920s, its external walls are probably solid walls rather than cavity walls. A solid wall is usually made of concrete, Stone or Brick.
• Solid walls have no gap, so they can’t be filled with cavity wall insulation.
• Cavity walls are made of two layers with a small gap or ‘cavity’ between them.
Internal wall insulation is like putting a vest on your home. The insulation is added to the interior of your property, and can be installed in several ways.

• Improved air quality due to the internal wall insulation helping to keep the air inside a building free from drafts and dampness.
• Quieter living due to the insulation helping to reduce noise from outside.

Cons of Internal Wall Insulation in Flintshire, Chester, Wrexham, Cheshire, Denbighshire, Conway, Wirral, and North Wales
Unfortunately, there are also some drawbacks associated with internal wall insulation. These include:.

• Installation can be disruptive (but worth doing for the major energy bill savings each year)
When it comes to internal wall insulation , there are a range of materials that could be used, each with their own positives and drawbacks.
Some of the most popular options are:
• Mineral wool: This is made from rock fibres, which can be effective at reducing heat loss. It’s also fire-resistant and acoustically absorbent.
• Rigid foam board: This is an insulation board made of foam, which can be cut and fitted to walls. It’s a lightweight and easy to install solution, although not always the most cost effective.
• Plasterboard: If you’re looking for a quick and easy solution, plasterboard may be the best option. It’s affordable and provides good thermal performance but isn’t as effective at reducing noise
• Thin insulation: This is a type of board insulation that’s applied directly onto the wall. It provides good thermal performance and breathability, but not as much acoustic insulation as some other options.
• Natural minerals: Natural minerals can be used in wall insulation, such as cellulose or cork. These materials are not only good at reducing heat loss, but also provide acoustical advantages.
No matter what kind of internal wall insulation you choose, make sure you get it installed by a professional who can assess your home and provide an accurate quote for the best results.
